Hebrew Audio Learning
I am an extreme visual learner. I have not done well with audio learning and was concerned that I could not learn from using this system. However, it is amazing! I have many years of Biblical Hebrew under my belt and have been encouraged by being able to easily follow along. I have known that Modern Hebrew contains 70% Biblical Hebrew, however, everytime I listen to a lesson, I am very encouraged/pleased to see how true this is. I am able to use the words I already know and put them in the Modern Hebrew word order to be able to converse with my fellow Jewish friends, neighbors, and customers. I love it! Before, I could only listen to them speak and get the "jist" of what they were saying. Even my Native Israeli friends would say to me: You just need to jump in and start speaking. You will mess up, be embarrassed, but that is how you learn. This system has given me confidence and in a very short period of time I can actual speak with them with ease. When I don't quite understand a word on the cd, I am able to look it up in a Hebrew to English dictionary and then I move on. I am excited to move onto Level I, and I will most likely get Level II. I do agree however, with the other reviewers, the price needs to be more reasonable. I recommend this product to all my fellow Biblical Hebrew learners who have studied/listened/observed, like myself, for years and want to put their knowledge into useful conversation. It is fun!

Great way to learn Functional phrases for Travel
I went through the 16 lessons prior to a trip to Israel. There are sixteen 30 minute lessons supposed to be done in sequential days. I did the last 4 lessons on the 15 hour flight getting there and had to do them more than once due to the nature of the relatively new Hebrew language. Even the numbers are feminine or masculine depending on if you are counting money or telling time. Although nearly all people in Israel speak multiple languages including English, I was able to communicate in Hebrew for minor travel related issues. For example, I was able to politely ask for a cup of coffee. On many occasions, I was complimented on my accent and even asked where I learned Hebrew. I have also used the Swahili, French, Mandarin, Hungarian and Portuguese versions with similar responses. I also own most all these language softwares in Rosetta Stone. I have found Pimsleur much faster and functional way to learn a language especially for the function of short term travel. RS requires that I make it through a full two levels prior to being able to speak in phrases for the purposes of travel.

Great tool for building conversational skills
Dr. Pimsleur revolutionized the discipline of acquiring foreign language. This course is ALL AUDIO. No reading or writing. You can learn Hebrew while walking, driving, gardening, etc. The pace is realistic. It's fun! This set has 16 lessons, but Pimsleur has put together 90 in all. I recommend using this as a supplement, not as a sole source of Hebrew instruction. The problem: The student doesn't always hear accurately. The material is "predigested," kind of like when a bird feeds her young. Thus, the pace is slow, and you don't learn a ton of Hebrew in each lesson. I estimate that if you buy and master all 90 of the lessons, you will have greater oral skills than a student who has completed a year of college Hebrew....but you will be illiterate. I consider Pimsleur Hebrew a "must," but it should be accompanied by another course, one with reading and writing.

BE AWARE
I really love it. The pronunciations are great. It works for me. I wish they would have more vocabulary, because is very limited. The reason i am writing this review is because i bought both the Basic Modern Hebrew and Conversational Modern Hebrew together. When i got them i found out that the 10 lessons of the Basic Modern Hebrew are the same first lessons of the Conversational Modern Hebrew. This information is in the back of the box of the Conversational Modern Hebrew. I tried it and is truth they are the same. So be AWARE .If you are going to buy it. A suggestion is buy the COVERSATIONAL MODERN HEBREW so you safe money . I repeat the 10 lessons of BASIC MODERN HEBREW ARE THE SAME.

Fantastic
This is the first time I have used the Pimsleur method and I wasn't disappointed. Having tried other audio language courses, Pimsleur is the best if you want to begin speaking quickly and confidently. My only issue is that it is geared more for American learners and therefore doesn't teach you how to use GBP or Euro, or how to say where you are from if you aren't from the US or Israel. That aside, I highly recommend this course as a fantastic introduction to the Hebrew language.

Hearing is learning
We have become an auditory society. It is so much easier to learn a foreign language by repeating phrases-- then the old way of learning grammar etc. My daughter was going to be a counselor at a camp where they were encouraged to speak Hebrew. My daughter is a singer. She learns everything by singing. She was freaked out before going to camp. She practiced this program for ten days and by the time she got to camp her Hebrew was as good as all the campers-- not native speakers. Highly recommend auditory learning

Nice
Buy this and not the Basic Hebrew. I regret buying the Basic Hebrew by Pimsleur because it is just a replica of this Conversational Hebrew by Pimsleur. I bought the two products, this Basic Hebrew and the Conversational Hebrew--because I wanted to learn more- and the packaging was different-only to find out that this Basic Hebrew was just a copy of the Conversational Hebrew---the two are the same but packaged differently--Again, the two books are just the same! This Conversational Hebrew just has two extra CDS. I feel ripped off by Amazon--they advertised both-- and I had the impression that one would get more from both. No! They both have the same content! Please buy the Conversational Hebrew by Pimseleur instead b/c it has two extra CDs.I needed more vocabulary!
